Carth
Shrouded in mystery, the Lord of the Witch Isle sends his agents on missions to promote a seemingly hopeless cause.
BOOK EXCERPT
“I am called Carth, quite simply, with no duke or lord to adorn this appellation, though I am certainly a lord of sorts, on this forgotten island, and over these forgotten people. You will quickly find that I do not command their loyalty or obedience any more than what they are willing to give it. This may seem strange to you, but once you have spoken to one or two of them you will quickly understand the reason for this.
“I have lived and worked here for… many cycles, and I am, to a certain degree, responsible for keeping this place isolated from… other realms. My seclusion is not entirely my own doing, since I am, much as yourself, an exile of sorts. This is partly a result of my own past misdeeds and foolishness, but essentially to protect myself from a mortal enemy of the most ruthless kind. My past, like yours, will simply not allow me to live in peace elsewhere. It pursues me wherever I may go, it keeps me awake with its relentless call… for vengeance.”
